How a Board-Certified OB-GYN Discovered a Natural Solution for Hot Flashes
By Dr. Elizabeth Moore

It was a Friday morning in July during the early pandemic. It was a typical Boston day—gray, humid, nearly 100°F, and uncomfortably steamy. I had just finished a 36-hour shift and was mandated to return for another, with only 12 hours of rest in between. I walked into the hospital, feeling like I was suffocating. Wearing a mask and PPE in that level of heat was unbearable—and I was experiencing intense hot flashes two to three times an hour.

As a Board Certified OB-GYN, I knew exactly what was happening in my body, but that didn’t make it easier to deal with. Just as I entered the building, Walgreens called to let me know they had no more hormone replacement therapy in stock. I had already waited three days, and now there was no end in sight. I grabbed my suitcase, fully suited up in gown, gloves, and mask, and dragged everything up four flights of stairs—because the elevator was out of service.

By the time I reached the labor and delivery floor, I was soaked in sweat, hadn’t eaten, and it was already 5 PM. I found a day-old sandwich in my coat pocket, took a quick bite under my mask, and started watching the monitors. The entire unit was tense—fatigued, hypervigilant, and running on empty. Makeshift construction barriers and zippers sealed off quarantined sections of the hospital. It was claustrophobic, humid, and exhausting.

Suddenly, an emergency hit. A woman came in on a stretcher, bleeding heavily, and I had tucked my small lunch pack under my shirt, jumped into a bunny suit, and rushed into the operating room. The surgical lights were blazing hot. My body was overheating inside the plastic suit. My glasses were fogged and soaked under goggles. But we got through the surgery—over two and a half hours of intense focus and extreme discomfort.

Walking out, I expected to feel dizzy, sick, and desperate for rest. But I felt... okay. Clear-headed, even. I went to change, pulled the lunch pack out from under my bra—and realized it was as hot as soup. That little pack had absorbed a shocking amount of body heat. That was the moment it all clicked.

That night at home, I placed a cooled version of the same pack under my clothing and waited. After just two or three nights, I noticed something incredible: I was sleeping through the night. No 3 AM wake-ups, no sweat-drenched sheets. And I did this all without hormone therapy. As a Board Certified OB-GYN, I was both amazed and curious. I began researching.

I found documentation from the HHS public access paper, published in the Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology describing how a rise in core temperature triggers hot flashes through an impulse traveling along the spinal cord. My solution—by sheer instinct—had intercepted a reaction before it could spread. What I had stumbled upon was a simple, science-based, natural solution for hot flashes.

I asked a few close friends and colleagues to try it. The response was always the same:
“Hey doc, you’ve got something here.”

That moment was the beginning of Sasha—a trusted, natural solution for hot flashes created by a Board Certified OB-GYN, based on real-life experience, basic physiology, and a desire to help women get through menopause without relying solely on medication.
